Community Poker games are known as community games because a set of cards which are being dealt face up in the middle of the board of the Poker table is considered to make a hand by all the Poker players in the table.
In Omaha Holdem Poker similar to Omaha there are five community cards.
The very most important matter to have in mind about Omaha Holdem Poker is that to make it to the pot split to have your hand qualified you must
“Use exactly two pocket cards and exactly three community cards”
Omaha Holdem Poker is mostly referred to as the game of "the nuts", since if you have to win in Omaha you might have to be holding "the nuts" in many cases to make it to the showdown.

• As time advances the Omaha High-Low split version was played. This version is also known as Omaha high-low or Omaha eight-or-better or Omaha-8.
• PLO or Omaha Holdem Poker of pot limit type is one of the drawing Poker games, where you might have to draw hoping to make a nut hand,
• Second best hands, second best straights or second best flushes are mostly beaten.
• In a pot limit version of this Poker game the pot will grow wildly due to aggressive play in the end and therefore, players might land up either winning or loosing most of the time.

Omaha Holdem Poker versus Omaha Holdem Poker
• In the start of the poker game, the poker player receives two pocket cards in Omaha Holdem Poker, but in Omaha each player gets four private hole cards.
• “Use exactly two pocket cards and exactly three community cards” in Omaha poker, but in Omaha Holdem Poker any hand is created from any five cards and the player can make his hand with one, two or no hole cards, they can even play the board.
• In Omaha Holdem two pairs on the community will make a full house in cases where the player has a similar card in his hand; however, in Omaha Poker the player will be able to use only three board cards and therefore to make the flush the player should have 2 cards of similar suit in the 2 pockets.
• Other than the 4 pockets, the rest of the game betting structure is the same; however, the final winning hand rule of 2 from pocket and 3 from board is important in Omaha.
Omaha Holdem Poker- game structure
Omaha Holdem Poker is lot like Texas Holdem Poker, however, a player needs to make his 5 cards Poker hand from the 9 cards in Omaha where there are 4 private cards, and 5 community cards.
“Use exactly two pocket cards and exactly three community cards” rule is indispensable in Omaha.
1. Placing the Blinds!
Prior to getting any cards, in online poker rooms just like in land based casinos each player is supposed to place forced bets. If there were no forced bets, the game will not catch up with action.
• Forced bets are a combination of two bets, which are the small blind and the big blind respectively.
• The small blind is the player sitting immediate left to the dealer button.
• The big blind is the player sitting immediate left to the small blind.
• The player in the small blind places a bet which is half the big blind bet.
• The big blind places the money which is two times the small blind bet.
• If the small blind places $5 in forced bet, the big blind should put $10.
All the players following the big blind should bet in increments of $10, which is the money put in to bet by the big blind.
The forced bets are the common method to stimulate action in the poker table.
If there were no forced bets, players will continue to fold their pockets without investing any money for play until they get real good pockets.
Forced bets are known as “blinds” because these bets are placed before seeing the value of the pockets which would be dealt.
The dealer is denoted by a dealer button.
The dealer position rotates clockwise in the subsequent tables that follow so each player has the option of being the dealer.
And as the dealer button rotates, the small and big blind positions also rotate in the table.
2. Receiving Pocket Cards!
After the completion of the placement of forced bets, each player in the table is dealt with four face down cards also known as “hole cards” or “pocket cards”, commonly referred to as pockets.
The hole cards are private cards for each player and the value in this card is applicable to the individual player who has been dealt with it.
Of the 4 pocket cards, the player must use 2 cards to make a hand in Omaha.
No other player in the table will be able to see these cards or know the value of it.
Similarly, you will also not be able to know the value of the pockets in other player’s hands.
“Two from pocket and 3 from board is an important criteria for Omaha Poker”
3. Pre-Flop Betting
After looking in to the value of the pocket cards, the poker players start making their betting based on the strength of their pocket cards.
• If the pockets are of real bad value, the player can fold the hand.
• If the pockets are of playable quality, players bet in the pre-flop waiting to see if their hand will improve in the flop.
The first player to make the pre-flop betting in the online poker room is the poker player sitting immediate left to the big blind.
The player has the following options:
• Call the value of bet placed by the big blind. Example: If the big blind has placed $10 in betting, bet in $10.
(or)
• Raise if the big blind has placed $10, raise the value of the betting by placing a $20 bet.
(or)
• Fold without placing any bets.
No checking! In the first betting of pre-flop betting the players are not permitted to check since the blinds are in active betting.
The betting round continues in the clockwise direction and each player decides to call, raise or fold.
Sometimes, there will be a player who has raised the bet and there will be another player who has an even better hand, in this case, the player with the better hand might choose to re-raise.
• Re-raise! Is where if the big blind has placed a $10 bet and another player has raised the bet to $20 the third player will re-raise the bet to $30.
In any betting round only three sub-betting rounds is permitted.
• The first is the call.
• The next is the raise.
• The third is the re-raise.
After the re-raise, after every player has made their call, raise or fold decision, the game proceeds to the flop.
If such a restriction was not there in poker, players will re-raise and re-raise and re-raise and the game will never seem to stop.
4. The Flop!
In the flop round, 3 cards are dealt face up.
The value of these cards will be visible to all players and each of the players in the table will combine any 2 of their pockets with the 3 flop cards and see how better are their options to make the best five card poker hand.
5. Post Flop betting!
Based on the new strength of any 2 of their pockets when combined with the flop cards (3 flop + any 2 pockets) players bet, call, raise, re-raise or fold…
6. The Turn!
In the turn round, 1 card is dealt face up, which is the fourth community card.
The value of these cards will be visible to all players and each of the players in the table will combine any of their 2 pockets with the 3 flop cards plus 1 turn card and see how better are their options to make the best five card poker hand.
7. Post Turn betting!
Based on the new strength of their pockets when combined with the flop cards and turn card plus any of their 2 pockets (3 flop + 2 pockets + 1 Turn card) players bet, call, raise, re-raise or fold…
8. The River!
In the river round, the last 1 card is dealt face up; this is the sixth of the community cards.
The value of this card will be visible to all players and each of the players in the table will combine their pockets with the 3 flop cards plus the new 2 turn cards plus 1 river card and see how better are their options to make the best five card poker hand.
“Remember the 2 pocket plus 3 board rule for Omaha”
9. Post River Betting!
Based on the new strength of their pockets when combined with the flop cards, turn cards and river card (3 flop + any of their 2 pockets + 1 Turn card + 1 river) players bet, call, raise, re-raise or fold…
There is no dealing of cards after the river.
10. Show Down!
All players remaining in the game without folding are supposed to show their hands.
This is known as the show down.
The hands are compared and the best high hand wins the pot. In cases of high-low games the pot is split.
In cases where there is only one player and there are no body heads up the sole player who is heads up takes the pot regardless of the ranking of his hands.
Showdown
“Remember the 2 pocket plus 3 from board rule for Omaha” in events of a tie, the pot is split.
All-In player
During the betting rounds in Omaha Poker if the player is going to runs out of chips and he is not having chips enough to call a bet, but still feels that he has a worthy hand he can go all in and stay alive or else fold.
Even otherwise, if he does not have a worthy hand he is known as the all in player as he will be still active in the pot for the value until which he was able to make the bets if he does not fold.
In cases where his pockets will win in the showdown, he will win the chips valued until the pot share when he went all in;
however, the other players will continue betting in a side pot and he will not qualify to win that part of the pot.
The side pot will be valued and split between players who played in it; however, if the all in player looses with his pockets he will forfeit his chips.
Significance of Dealer button
The dealer position in a Poker Room online is denoted by a small disc marked as the “dealer button” or just “the button”.
Denoting the position of the dealer is pretty important in an online poker room.
The dealer position is very important to determine the blinds:
• The player immediate left to the dealer makes the small blind.
• The player immediate left to the small blind makes the big blind.
• The betting rotates clockwise from the dealer’s position.
Who gets the dealer position?
• In a poker room online, the first Poker player who purchases the stakes to the Poker table receives the dealer position
• In a Poker tourney, the dealer position is determined by the cards draw. Every Poker player will be getting one card and the player who has the highest valued card gets the dealer button first. In cases of a tie the button is decided by the suits order of Spade, Hearts, Diamond, and Clubs – high to low-.
• After a table in played and the game is completed the dealer button moves clock wise to the next player in the poker table to ensure that each player gets a chance to be the dealer and also to be in the blinds betting position.
Special Norms for Blinds
• When a poker player first joins in the active table in the poker room, he is supposed to pay an amount equal to the big blind to make it to the active bet.
• Also, each poker player who is re-entering a Poker table should contribute to the small blind (not for an active bet sum; however, it is a small addition to the pot) and also to the big blind (as an active bet) in cases where they might have missed the blinds position while they were away.
• This is compulsory to prevent players from leaving the game when it is their turn to pay for the blinds and play in an early position, rather they will join when they are getting to the late position in betting. Also, they are provided with the chance to wait until the button is in their position.
