1. What is Texas holdem Poker?


Texas Holdem Poker is a seven card stud variant also known as the Cadillac of Poker.  This is in fact the most played game in the Poker World. The game is said to have originated in Texas, therefore it is known as Texas Holdem Poker.

2. How to play Texas holdem Poker?


• Blind posting by the small blind and the big blind happens before the cards are dealt.

• Each player is dealt two face-down pocket cards.

• Five community cards are dealt face-up in the board.

• Each player makes the best five-card poker hand using these seven cards (5 community plus 2 pockets).

• After the two pocket cards are dealt, the first betting round known as the preflop betting takes place.

• Then, three community cards are dealt face up in the center of the board in the poker table.
 
These cards are known as “the flop” cards and following this, the second round of betting or the flop betting takes place.


• Then, one face up card known as the “turn” card is dealt; this is the third round of betting.

• Then a fifth poker card is dealt in the board, known as the river card, following this a fourth round of betting takes place.


• If there are more than one player in the table, showdown occurs.

The poker player who sits in the dealer position will be the last person to act.
 

Being the last player to act, he has the advantage of information, because he sees several players act before him.

A white disc represents the dealer position in the table.


• The player left to the dealer is known as the small blind.

• The player left to the small blind is known as the big blind.


Since these two players make their bets without looking in to their cards, they are known as blind bets.

The money for which poker players compete in the game is known as “The Pot.”

3. What do you mean by “Running It Twice” in a No Limit Texas Holdem Poker game?


Running it twice occurs when all the betting in the hand is completed before all the community cards are dealt. 

This takes place when one player is all in and the other who is heads up matches the bet.

Running it twice can be done after the flop or the turn; however, this will be done when one of the two players is all in before the dealing of the community cards. Both of the players must agree for running it twice.


• After they agree, the dealer deals two final cards.

• The pot is split in to two halves.

• One half is given to the winner of the first half of cards.

• And the second half is given to the winner with the second half of the cards.


This is usually requested by players in big money games where they do not want to have their fate decided by the turn or one more card.

4.  What is a no limit game?


In No limit Texas holdem poker games; there is no limitation as to the amount of money that the poker players should place as bets in the betting rounds. 

They can frighten their opponents by going all in and making it difficult for them to make a big bet or match their huge bet.

 They might rather fold when such a huge bet comes up.

5. What is Flop, Turn and River?


• The first three face up community cards are known as “the Flop” cards or 3rd street card

• The fourth community card face up is known as the “Turn card” or the 4th Street card

• The fifth community card face up is known as the “River card” or the 5th Street card.

6. What do you mean by the big blind and the small blind?


The round of betting begins with forced bets, known as “blinds” - the small blind and the big blind.
 
• The player left to the dealer is known as the small blind. The small blind places half the table minimum in the pot.  This player is the first to act.


• The player left to the small blind is known as the big blind. The big blind places the complete table minimum bet in the pot, which is two times the small blind.  This player is the second to act.

7. What does going all in mean?


 “All in” refers to choosing to place all of one’s poker chips in the betting round.

When a player goes all in he does not forfeit his hand, in the end if his hand wins, he gets the pot for until which he went all in. 

In some cases, side betting might occur and the all in player cannot have claim on that pot that will be shared between players who participated in it.

8. What does it mean to check, call, raise or fold ?


• Check is when a poker player passes his action without making any kind of betting. 

By doing this, he chooses to call, raise or fold after other players in the table make their action.

• Call is when a player makes a bet matching the player's bet by betting an even amount of money.

• Raise is when the player bets an amount bigger than the previous bet.

• Fold is when the player does not wish to play and throws his hand away. The player thus forfeits his claim in the pot.

9. What do you mean by the button?

The button is a white disc used to denote the position of the dealer in the table.

The game proceeds clockwise from the button. All the dealing and the betting sequences are made clockwise to the button.

 After one game has been played and completed, the button is moved to the next spot.

10. What does “limp in” mean?


Calling a bet before the flop prior to the big blind is denoted by the term 'Limp In.’

In simple terms, entering a pot by calling rather than limping.

11. What do you mean by Tight Play, Loose Play, Aggressive Play, Passive Play?


'Tight play', 'Loose play', 'Aggressive play' and 'Passive play' are all terminologies used to denote the styles of poker playing:


Loose play and tight play denotes the attitude of the player towards his chips.

Passive and aggressive denotes the player's attitude towards peer poker players in the table.


Tight-aggressive player is daring to bet any high and they prefer that others start the betting and they love to command the table and they prefer competition. 

They are big money bettors mostly.

Tight-passive is a method of playing where poker players are too cautious about their money and they follow the methods of how the other players play the game.

This is the kind of play used in most online poker rooms

Loose-aggressive players are very free with their money and the point that differentiates them from the tight aggressive is that they bet high even with weak hands. 

They love command and lot of action in the table. 

This is normally the type of play in fake money games.
 
Loose-passive is a style of play where the players play most of the hands; however, they rarely initiate bets or raises.

12. What do you mean by playing the board?


 “Playing the board” is the playing method where the players use the community cards only for the final 5 card hand and without using any of the hole cards.

28. What is "The Deadman's Hand"?


"A Deadman's Hand" is a two pair of black Aces and Eights.

Wild Bill Hickock was shot dead when he played with this hand and therefore this hand is named so.
